33% of Americans have a silent blood sugar problem known as insulin resistance.

Insulin resistance increases the risk for prediabetes, type 2 diabetes and a host of other serious health problems, including heart attacks, strokes and cancer.

Patient’s who have gestational diabetes are at increased risk for developing insulin resistance after pregnancy.

Insulin resistance is also a CAUSE for the elevated blood sugars in patient’s with gestational diabetes.

. In our next post we will talk about the components that cause insulin resistance and what can be done about them before, during and after a pregnancy.
